What data does Cognito Hosting collect.

Our Company collects the following data:

Personal identification information (name, email address, addresses, billing information, phone number, orders etc.)

How do we collect your data.

You directly provide Cognito Hosting with most of the data we collect. Cognito Hosting collects data and processes data when you:

Register online or place an order for any of Cognito Hosting products or services.

Voluntarily complete a customer survey or provide feedback on any of our message boards or via email.

Use or view Cognito Hosting via your browser’s cookies.

How long does Cognito Hosting retain your data.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on Cognito Hosting, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

How does Cognito Hosting store your data.

Cognito Hosting securely stores your data with WordPress and WooCommerce in a secure database which is encrypted by a secure password. Cognito Hosting uses a secure HTTPS connection and SSL cert to your client.

Strong encryption is used to ensure your privacy and security. We encrypt (serve over SSL) , data sent to and from https://cognitohosting.org only. We consider strong encryption so important that we do not offer the option to disable it, which would compromise the security of your data on Cognito Hosting. We also 301 redirect all insecure HTTP requests to the secure HTTPS version.

Cognito Hosting runs firewalls and have processes in place to alert us about unauthorized attempts to access Cognito Hosting accounts.

Cognito Hosting is continuously watching web traffic and monitoring suspicious activity. Cognito Hosting also has security measures in place to help protect against distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks.

Please bear in mind that if you wish to attempt to test Cognito Hosting security measures on your own, we do not allow for any whitelisting. Cognito Hosting would request this activity not to be tested as our system has no way of ensuring you are not malicious in nature, your IP address may be Temporarily OR Permanently blocked.

Cognito Hosting backs up site data on a regular basis, in the event that data loss occurs (like power supply failure or a natural disaster, for example) we can recover it.

WordPress uses the wp_users table to store user data in its database. Only the most basic user information is stored here. This includes the username (user_login), password (user_pass), and email (user_email) of the users.

WooCommerce uses a combination of both WordPress database tables and its own custom tables to store its data. However, WooCommerce doesn’t have a dedicated table to store the customer data. The customer data is stored in different database tables, which sometimes might make retrieval of this data challenging. By design, a Cognito Hosting customer credit card number and security code are never stored on Cognito Hosting. The payment gateway gives this sensitive information directly to the payment processor. We designed our payment gateway to ensure credit card data never enters or passes through Cognito Hosting databases.

Who does Cognito Hosting share your data with.

Cognito Hosting does not share any personal info with Third parties unless strictly required for Cognito Hosting to function (eg. PayPal payment confirmation, e-mail addresses to send purchase orders, etc.).

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

Where does Cognito Hosting send your data.

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Comments can be manually viewed and removed by administrators at their own discretion.
